Vandeikya

It’s an Ayatutu town; the capital of Vandeikya Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State, Nigeria.

The capital town and the LGA has the same name.

The LGA was created on 28 August, 1976 – formerly part of Gboko LGA.

Boundaries
Ushongo to the North and Konshisha LGA to the West, Kwande LGA to the East, Obudu and Bekwara in Cross River State to the East.

Between latitude 7°5′ and 7°15′ north of the Equator and Longitude 9° and 9°6′ east of Greenwich.

It’s the fifth most populated LGA in Benue State, after Gboko LGA, Makurdi, Otukpo, and Kwande.

Vandeikya has Kunav people as its main indigenes.

Kunav is grouped into 2 parts, namely: Kyan and Tiev.

And further 8 groups on the hierarchy which have been administratively structured into 12 districts /council wards.

Vandeikya is Nigeria’s leading producer of peas, known in Tiv as Mzembe.
The demand for the fruit is always high.
